Thermal Label Printer Frequently
Asked Questions!
What type of printer do I
really need for my application?
The type of printer you need for your application is normally based
on the volume of labels to be printed each day and the environment the
printer will be used. We normally recommend a metal cased industrial
printer for label quantities greater than 100 labels per day since the
plastic cased printers normally take a smaller roll of labels (4" OD)
limiting the amount of labels on each roll. We also recommend using
metal cased printers in harsh industrial environments. There are a
multitude of different qualifications for selecting a thermal printer.
Selecting the wrong printer can be costly to you. Please contact us

Why is it that I do not
see the brand of printer that I currently have listed on your site?
The printers listed on our main website are high quality thermal
printers that have been tested extensively by Dynamic Bar Code
Systems. The printers we test are the printers we feel most confident
selling to our customers. This is not to say that other brands are not
high quality; it is simply the fact that we have not tested these products
in our testing room. In most cases, if a printer is not listed, we can
still sell that printer to you. Just contact us
to get pricing and availability.
Do I need 203 or 300 DPI?
The selection of printer density or dots per inch (DPI) is based on
how the printer is going to be used. Most compliance labeling
specifications are designed around the 203 DPI thermal printer as a minimum.
The 203 DPI printer is the least expensive method of printing since the cost
of ownership is much less. Prior to the Tharo H
series printer, the price of thermal printheads between 203 and 300 DPI
was around $400. The price difference between the
Tharo H 203 DPI and Tharo H 300 DPI versions is
$100 dollars. Additional criteria for selecting between 203 and 300
DPI, other than cost, is the size of label, the size of text and if graphics
are to be printed on the label. The 300 DPI printer will create a
'crisper' label when using smaller text and graphics. Please contact us
to get a solid recommendation for your application.
