Thermal Label Printer - Stand-alone
| A large butter creamery was asked by their customers to
provide UPC-A bar code labels on the cartons for the products they
were manufacturing. The
environment where the products were packaged and labeled was extremely
sanitary for food production, but since there were frequent equipment
wash downs, the location was not suitable for a computer terminal. |
| Dynamic Bar Code Systems installed a stand-alone Tharo Apollo 3 Label
Printer on the production floor where the products were to be labeled.
The Apollo 3 was printing labels based on the information
stored on a PCMCIA card connected to the back of the printer.
The label formats were created using EASYLABEL label design
software and downloaded to the printer and stored on the PCMCIA card.
Once the printer was disconnected from the computer and moved
to the production floor, the label formats were accessed using the
printer’s front panel. Once the correct format was chosen, any
variable information to be entered by the operator, was typed using a
computer keyboard connected to the printer. When it was necessary to wash down the ‘clean room’, the
printer was disconnected from the power source and moved to another
location without harming the data stored on the PCMCIA card.
